New Venues – We played the existing 9 holes at Pilará Golf Club
Last week we were invited to test the 9 holes (10-11-12-13-14-8-9-1-2 in that order) that are ready to play at this Nicklaus Course, in which legendary Jack is not only designer but also a partner in the real estate development. The course looks really great, it plays challenging and it was constructed to the higher standards, greens are already in premium shape and playing at a speed of 3mts (10 feet).
Although Bermuda grass (tees, fairways and rough) remains yellow in winter, the course shows great beauty with its lakes, streams and natural trees. The other 9 holes are scheduled to open around March 2010. Between the holes that we played, all of them look great, but 420yds par 4 10th and 180yds par 3 11th are really fantastic golf holes. Hole 10 has a water hazard all along the right side of the fairway and passes in front of the green for a really challenging 2nd shot (see picture). Then 11th is an amazing par 3, with a big and sloped green protected by water (see picture) and with plenty of strategic pin positions.
This course will for sure be top 3 in the country and we believe that soon it will host the Argentine Open.
