Venues for 2010 and 2011 Argentine Open revealed:
Mark Lawrie, Argentine Golf Association managing director revealed the hosts of 2010 & 2011 Opens: next year the Tournament will be placed at the Red Course of the Jockey Club, an old traditional Allister Mackenzie design and 2011 the Open will go back to the 2006 host, Pilar Golf Club. The tournament will be returning to the Jockey Club after 5 year, to the golf course Angel “El Pato” Cabrera considers the best one in the country for this tournament. Then in 2011 the Open will go back to Pilar after 5 years. The Argentine Open is the 5th oldest open championship and many golf champions born in Argentina started their successful career winning this event. Argentina is getting ready for a hot 2010: in January the America´s Cup, World Amateur in October and the Open in December, so a lot of great golf is going to be played.
Argentine Teams Won Girls and Boys South American Junior Championships
The Argentine Golf Association teams won both the girls and boys South American Junior Championships played last week at Las Praderas de Lujan Golf Club in Lujan, Argentina. Boys team composed by Emiliano Grillo, Leandro Marelli and Jorge Fernandez Valdez fought all the tournament with Chile, but during the last round the chilean tema slowed down and let the argentines alone to win the championship. Uruguay finished 2nd and with this results both temas clasified to the World Junior Golf Championship to be played in June in Japan.
The girls team had a great tournament and won by a very high margin to their nearest competitor, Colombia. Junior number one player in the world Victoria Tanco led the team to a great victory with her partners Sofia Toccafondi and Jazmin Reina. After this performance Victoria will travel to USA to be part for the second time in her young career of a LPGA Tour event.
This success shows the great work the AAG is doing with young players. Young starts have already jumped to the best Tours (Estanislao Goya, Alan Wagner, Sebastian Saavedra) and a lot more will follow Angel Cabrera and Andres Romero to the PGA Tour.
